    As Cuba begins to loosen its communist control and normalize its relations with the United States and other trading partners, insurance is emerging as a new industry for the country’s 11+ million citizens.  Private ownership — once scarce in the Cuban economy — is now growing as businesses and individuals acquire automobiles, real estate and more. Although the Cuban political system and economic stability pose considerable risk, insurance companies may find success in offering certain types of coverage, such as natural catastrophe, rental car and vacation home insurance.
