Bricker Graydon to represent Harveysburg Free Black School

Bricker Graydon, in partnership with the Warren County Foundation and Springboro non-profit Parents Empowering All Children of Color (PEACOC), is pleased to announce its new legal representation of the Harveysburg, Ohio Historical Society as it relates to the Harveysburg Free Black School.  Founded in 1831 by Quakers Jesse and Elizabeth Harvey, the Free Black School was the first free school in Ohio for African-American children.  The School remained in operation until the early 1900s, was temporarily converted into a private residence, then restored to its original state in 1976.

Recently, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission awarded the Historical Society a grant to construct a detached educational cultural welcome center next to the Free Black School to support and expand its educational and cultural outreach opportunities. Having a strong background itself in groundbreaking diversity, equity and inclusion, Bricker Graydon is proud to provide historic preservation, zoning and land use, property development, and consultative support services for such a worthy cause.
