Bricker & Eckler honored with Aspire Diversity Award

Firm News

Lawyers of Color (LoC) has honored Bricker & Eckler LLP with its Aspire Diversity Award, given to law firms that meet specific criteria for diversity within their organizations. Lawyers of Color, a nonprofit devoted to promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities, will highlight Bricker & Eckler as an award winner in its Diversity Issue 2023.

To be recognized with the award, a firm must satisfy two of the following criteria:

  • Have at least one staff member with the word “equity,” “diversity,” or “inclusion” in their title

  • Have at least one attorney of color who is a managing partner, executive/management committee member, or practice group head

  • Have at least 4% Black attorneys

Bricker has long prioritized attracting talent from underrepresented groups and cultivating a culture of belonging where our people are valued for their contributions to the firm and our clients. Bricker is proud of our history of groundbreaking diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. We were the first central Ohio majority-owned law firm to elect an African American male and female to the partnership. To further these efforts, Bricker hired a Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer that has over 20 years of expertise in DEI where the role is a member of the Executive Committee.

We continue our commitment to belonging through proactive behaviors that make every attorney and staff member in the firm feel welcomed, engaged and appreciated for their efforts. We are pleased to be included in Lawyers of Color’s Aspire Diversity Award recipients for 2023.

On January 19, Bricker and Cincinnati-based law firm Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP announced plans to merge effective April 3, 2023. Once merged, the firm will operate under the name Bricker Graydon LLP, with offices in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Marietta, Barnesville, Lebanon and Liberty Township, Ohio, as well as Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky and Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
