Butcher provides insights on ED intervention in Harvard Title IX and Title IX retaliation case

Higher Ed attorney Erin Butcher was interviewed by The Chronicle for Higher Education in their story about the U.S. Department of Justice’s brief related to Harvard University. According to the article, this is a matter where “three graduate students sued Harvard, alleging the university had failed to protect them from sexual harassment and threats of retaliation.”

Coming from a seasoned Title IX lawyer in higher education, Erin was asked to discuss the Justice Department’s brief. In part, she shared, “They don’t really get into the merits of the Harvard case on either side … if your employees retaliate and you know about it and you don’t do anything about it, then you might be on the hook for retaliation.”
